Please Donate good condition DVDs and Books to the Library

E-mail Print
altDonate Used DVDs & Books.
We may add them to our collection for others to borrow or place them in our ongoing book sale. Either way, your donation helps the library and your neighbors.

DVDs The Library DVD collection gets heavy use and it's hard to keep up with the demand for new and varied titles. If you have DVDs in good condition collecting dust on your shelves, please consider giving them an new active life at the library. Even if it's a title you know the library already owns, we are always happy to replace our worn copy with a donated copy in better shape.

Books Donations of recently published fiction and non fiction books (2014-2017) are also appreciated to round out the library's collection. Donated books need to be in good condition to make it on to the shelves. If we decide not to add a donated book to the collection, we can still place it in the Book Sale Carts in the lobby. Proceeds from those book sales help purchase new books and DVDs for the library collection.

We ask that you bring your DVD and book donations to the library during open hours, so that we can quickly sort through and pick out the items that make sense for the library shelves or our book sale. All others can go to the used book box at the WRATS. Please don't leave boxes of donations on the porch.

If you have any questions, please e-mail or call 978-544-3559. THANKS!!

Wendell Post Archives

Wendell Post Archives Link

There is now a direct link on the Wendell Free Library website to the Wendell Post Archives preserved in the UMass Library's Special Collections.

From 1977 through 2001, the Wendell Post was published by and for the residents of Wendell. With its distinctive local perspective, the Post covered not only local politics, people, and events, but also issues with national implications, including the anti-nuclear movement, environmental concerns, recycling, and peacework.

The Wendell Post collection contains nearly every issue of a community newspaper produced in a small, rural New England town. Most issues include reports on town meetings and elections, schools, and public works, but also the Post carried news of the stuff of daily life such as births and deaths, high school graduations, anniversaries, Old Home Day, profiles of town residents, town history, and the crime report.

The link is located on the Library's Online References tab, or you can click here: Wendell Post Archives.

Upcoming Science Fiction / Horror Movie nights in 2018

E-mail Print

For the 2018 season the Science Fiction / Horror Movie series will follow two themes: The Science Fiction theme will be time travel and the Horror theme will be witches. Both of these themes are well covered in literature and on screen (big and little). Time travel is a fascinating subject with issues of cause and effect paradoxes and speculation on what the future holds. Witchcraft has also fascinated humanity since the stone age and the idea of people that can cause magical things to happen can be both frightening and exciting.
