The Franklin County Regional Animal Control Program currently services (15) towns. We are based out of the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter located in Turners Falls. The Program employs 1 Full time and 2 part time ACO's. We provide such services as investigating dog bites and complaints, Licensing Compliance as well as Animal Welfare investigations. We respond to reports of animals at large and work closely with the Towns Field Drivers with livestock issues as needed and available. We assist with sick and injured wildlife. However we do not provide assistance to residents with nuisance wildlife as we are not allowed to by state law.
The Animal Control program does not act as the Animal Inspector for the Town and does not remove deceased animals from the roadways or private property unless extenuating circumstances exist.
