Dear Wendell friends and neighbors,
The Wendell Board of Health hopes you are having a healthy holiday season,
and we wish you all the best in the New Year. However, this is also the
prime season for respiratory viruses. In order to help us get through this,
our board of health has purchased another supply of Covid-19 test kits,
since free tests from the state are no longer currently available. We have
purchased iHealth test kits, the ones in the orange and white boxes that
you are familiar with. The tests are packaged two tests per box and have an
expiration date of April 5, 2024. Hopefully, they will help us keep us safer
during most of the winter.
The test kits will be available at the Good Neighbors program starting this
Sunday, the Wendell Senior Center, and the Wendell Free Library during
their normal open hours. You may get them at Good Neighbors even if you are
not a registered member. Please remember that the kits must be stored at
temperatures between 37 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit, so don’t leave them in
your car.
We have a limited number of kits, so please be considerate of others and
take only what you really need. If you have not already done so, you may
order 2 free kits from USPS.
The Community Health Centers of Franklin County, located in Greenfield and
Orange, may still have free test kits available, but be sure to check the
expiration dates before taking them. Test kits are also sold at retail
pharmacies. I advise price checking first. I was able to get some for $16
dollars each at Walmart a while back; the kits normally sell for about $24.
Best regards,
Barbara Craddock for the Wendell Board of Health
