Upcoming at the Wendell Free Library

The Gentle Healthy Bones and Balance Exercise Program

Wednesdays 10:00-11:00 am and Fridays 10:00-11:00 am

Presented by the Wendell Free Library via ZOOM. This is a long running library program that we are trying to be better about promoting.

For seniors who wish to improve or maintain strength, mobility, flexibility,

balance and bone health.

Sessions include: Warm up, Strengthening, Balance, Cool down and Range of Motion.

Sessions run approximately one hour

Equipment needed:

-A sturdy chair without armrests, such as a kitchen chair

-Drinking water

-Hand and leg weights are optional.

Work It Out Wombats

Wendell Free Library: September Saturdays at 10 a.m. on the 14th, 21st, 28th

Erving Public Library: October Sundays at 10 a.m. on the 6th, 13th, 20th

The Wendell & Erving Public Libraries are partnering with the producers of the PBS KIDS series, “Work It Out Wombats!,” to test out a new app for families with a 4 or 5 year old child!

This is a reminder for registered families, as registration for this study is now closed.

Saturday September 21, 12-2p.m. Art Opening of Nate Longcope’s Dark Barns and Dream Sheds.

Walk over from Old Home Day to peruse the new exhibit up in the Herrick Room with the Artist. From Nate’s artist statement: “This exhibit is a testament to the mystical and transformative power of art.”

Intro to Astrology with Mara Bright

Tuesdays Sept. 24-Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m.

Learn the fundamentals of how to read an astrological chart cast for the exact time of your birth.  Discover the meaning of your sun, moon and rising sign.  Interpret each planet in your chart according to its sign and the house it’s in.  Find out what your chart has to say about what is uniquely yours to learn in this life.

Six Tuesdays in the Herrick Room from 6:30 – 8 PM, starting on September 24 and ending on October 29.  Plan to attend all meetings, if possible. Information given will be cumulative. Limit:  15 participants. Registration Required.

Bring a binder or a folder to organize handouts.

Wednesday Oct. 2: Matinee Movie series returns! Every Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Sunday Oct. 6: Ghost Town Shadow Puppet Workshop with Sally Stuffin. 1-2:p.m. Registration Required.  Come make colorful shadow puppets to use at the Ghost Town Shadow Theater.  Stay for Cider and Donuts and Davis Bates performance.

Sunday Oct. 6: Celebrate Fall at the library with Cider, Donuts and the new addition to the library grounds, the Adventure Pathway! Stay for the music/ storytelling of the Davis Bates performance.

Sunday Oct. 6:Local storyteller and performer Davis Bates presents: Halloween Harvest: Ghosts, Goblins & More: A perfect way to celebrate the Fall season, with traditional and true life ghost stories, supernatural tales and songs about the harvest and turning of the earth. 3 p.m. Funded, in part, by the Wendell Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the MA Cultural Council.

Saturday Oct. 19: CNC “How things Move in Nature- Seeds” with the Hitchcock Center 10:00am *Registration required, email Gillian at cnccoord@erving.com.

Tuesday Oct. 22: Spooky Henna with Wick Good Henna. Choose from dozens of fun Halloween and fall-themed designs! Spider webs, skeleton hands, pumpkins and more! 5-7 p.m. register by email for a 15 min slot. This program is particularly aimed at teens/tweens but all ages welcome and there are plenty of spots.

Saturday Oct. 26: Ghost Town at Sundown. dusk on the South Common.
